Michael Greenberg

Founder/Owner/Photographer/Instructor

Michael Greenberg is one of the top 10 Canadian wedding photographers. He also now resides in Los Angeles. His style can be described as artistic imagery consisting of fashion, traditional and photo-journalistic elements.

Michael started exploring photography at the age of 6 and remained loyal to his creative side ever since, even though he tried himself as a musician, a computer programmer (Herzing college, Montreal, QC. 2001) and even a medical student along the way (Sechenov Mosow Medical Academy, 1997).

Phototerra opened its doors in 2002 and by 2007 Michael’s dedication to the art of photography won him his first international WPPI award (Wedding & Portrait Photography International). Many awards have followed since.

In 2008 he was awarded first place worldwide for an exceptional panoramic group shot. 2009 brought him six trophies. In 2010 Michael received a Grand Award from WPPI for the highest achievement in wedding photography. That same year, Michael’s photos were featured in “The Best of Wedding Photojournalism”, 2nd edition, book written by Bill Hurter. He won first prizes at WPPI again in 2011 and 2012. This was a turning point in Michael’s career, and he wanted to share his knowledge with others. By hosting workshops and seminars across North America, Europe and Asia, Michael was able to reach out to thousands of other photographers, lecturing about his technical and at the same time artistic approach to photography. He since became one of the judges at the WPPI competition. Michael currently holds the Double Master of WPPI title as of 2015.

You can find his work on the covers of photography and wedding magazines like Photolife, Rangefinder, PhotoED, Elegant Wedding, Wedluxe and Grace O'rmond. His appearance on TV talk-show Stavropol, Russia (2012) not only reveals Michael's artistic side but takes a closer look at his personality. Recently (2014) Michael has been voted to the Top Five Wedding Photographers worldwide while Phototerra Studio as a team was the most awarded wedding photography studio nationwide by the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards.
