Here we have a panoramic image of an Italian family concentrated around the older couple at the center of the photograph. Their eldest son is sitting to the right at a symbolic place of honor reserved for the firstborn. The rest of the characters in this photo are the couple’s grandchildren, as well as other sons and daughters with their respective spouses.
This loving Italian family was celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary, also known as the Golden Wedding for our older couple. They renewed their vows in one of the Catholic churches in the Italian quarter of Montreal in a very touching ceremony. There is something so endearing about a couple that spends half a century in love with one another.
We created the portrait following the ceremony at the Renaissance reception hall owned by the family. To be mindful of 300 guests that were waiting in another room, we had to be quick. A portrait like this one takes at least 30 minutes to shoot and countless hours of perfection in post-production. But it is worth every second — a conversation piece and an heirloom that will be on your wall forever. There is nothing more beautiful than a masterful family photograph.
The demand for our panoramic portraits skyrocketed after Michael won a 1st Place Prize in the Group Category as well as a Silver Distinction award for this photo at the WPPI convention. You can see a number of our favorite panoramas in our wedding and awards galleries. It is not only about the composition; anyone can position a group in a “Vanity Fair” style. Our panoramas are different because of the science that goes into the creation of such images and a generous sprinkle of creativity.
